Just 2 Wheels

Recently we got Aiden his first “big boy” bike with no training wheels. However, teaching a kid to ride and running along side of them hunched over didn’t sound like any fun for the parents. So I got this idea, what if there was a pole at the back of the bike that I could hold onto and rollerblade behind him? Well, apparently just such a contraption exists.

On his first try he was riding without me holding on. Since then we have been practicing and he has become quite good. The bike is bigger and heavier than his last so starting and stopping on his own is difficult. Other than that I just ride behind him ready to catch bar if he starts to fall.

Here is a recent video of the action…

Doggone Beach

The weather lately has been fluctuating between pleasant and good ol’ summer hot. This weekend decided to be one of those hot ones. Luckily at the beach it was just pleasant. We packed up the doggies and very little beach gear to spend a few hours at one of our favorite dog-friendly beaches in Santa Cruz.

This was the first time we took Lily to the beach. She loves to dig in our backyard so we figured she would be right at home in a giant sandbox. Some of this sand was swallowed and also made a reappearance on the way home.

After our time at the beach, Aiden and I had some fun on our newly resurfaced street. I got him a new scooter/skateboard a few weeks ago. Here is a video of him riding like a pro as I follow along on my skateboard.
